BATTLESTAR Auction Awesomeness!!!!
Today's the kind of day I wish I didn't have the money I do.

(I guess one can think of this kind of expenditure as an investment of sorts.)

The catalog was for this was released today, and it's a real doozy:

The auctions will kick off with a preview day on Friday, January 16th at 10:00 a.m.  The preview day will also feature a series of live panel discussions with the creative team that developed all the fantastic props, costumes and set pieces for “Battlestar Galactica.”  The two day live auction event will take place Saturday January 17th and Sunday January 18th and will feature hundreds of items from the first three seasons of the show.  The live auction will also be available to view online at www.battlestarprops.com so that those unable to make it to Pasadena will have a chance to bid electronically.  On Tuesday, January 20, 200 items will be offered on eBay for those that were unable to participate in the live auctions over the weekend.

And boy oh boy, do I want some of these items. And, frighteningly enough for my savings account, I can buy one as well. Or two.

I think it's safe to say at this point BSG is my favorite show on the air currently. LOST may be a better show overall, but this one's my favorite (I'm rewatching the entire series in prep for the upcoming, final block of episodes in Jan).

I remember on the Millionaire questionnaire there was a question asking if you collected any movie memorabilia. I hadn't, and greatly envied people such as Bob Burns who did. Liam, Andy and I all came to the conclusion that any ALIENS items would be highest on our list. (#1 most wanted -- a Pulse Rifle)

Now, I can afford something, and with this auction, I might actually take the plunge. I think my upper limit will be $5000 (That's in total purchases, so I may have to settle for one or two of the lower end items). Note there are price estimates for each item, but the items, especially the iconic ones, will most likely go for hundreds, if not thousands more:

Note that more BSG items will be offered on Ebay on the Monday after the auction, and, for the remainder of Season 4.5, episode-centric props will be also be auctioned off on Ebay after each original broadcast (I.e. The Final Cylon's clothes, Bear's character's mandolin, etc.)

For more information on the auction, go to its website at http://www.battlestarprops.com

This is a big ass (graphically intensive) wish list, and is broken down in the following categories:

MOST DESIRED
IF I WERE A SUPER RICH MAN
COSTUME WORLD
OTHER COOLNESS

Let the fun (and coveting) begin!

---

MOST DESIRED

These items will most likely go for MUCH more than their estimates. Items are listed in order of price, highest to lowest. I am seriously considering bidding on some (or just one) of these.

Highest, but, unattainable priority. Sadly, I won't be bidding on this, but, man, do I want this something fierce. I predict this will go for over $20,000. It is, to me (and I imagine most fans), the most coveted piece in this auction. I can see a celeb fan such as Kevin Smith or Joss Whedon picking this one up (Kev specifically mentioned the awesomeness of the painting in EVENING WITH KS III)

Priority. Wood, huh? Still, pretty damn cool. Plus, look at the opening S1 credit sequence and voila-- there's this bad boy doubling as the series title!

High priority (for a $3.00 lighter, to boot). I imagine this item will be rather popular as well.

High priority. Note that you can actually display DRADIS images on this bad boy!  This might actually be worth the money paid for it.

Awesome. High priority.

Would look great mounted, under lucite.

Shockingly low estimate for such an iconic prop. Plus, it's still broken. That's the funniest selling point in the list!!!

High priority.  "Gimme a frakking drink!!!!!"  (One would have to buy a Tigh costume to make this complete)

Priority. Like the Adama painting, I thought this one was claimed (by Producer David Eick). Not a bad price for this one.

This is pretty cool and pretty affordable (sic) as well, for what looks to be an off the shelf item.

Priority. Needs to be framed.

Priority. Would also look great framed!

UNKNOWN SOLDIER PHOTO

High priority. It's not listed in the catalog, but I assume its being offered, as it was featured on the website  (I think 5 to 6k will be the asking price). Comes minus the frame.

The next set of items are all on the lower end of things (for this auction), but more affordable than the ones above.

There's a set for the Pegasus hangar too, but the show ain't called BATTLESTAR PEGASUS.

Other Colony flags (Sagattiron, Tauron, etc) are also available.

I would think this would be higher priced, considering its importance in the show.

IF I WERE A SUPER RICH MAN (with more storage space)

The title says it all about this next group of items.

Wow. Just, wow.

Note the text, "Full functional interior"

Fuck an apartment, you could live in this bad boy!

"I live in a RAPTOR, down by the River!!!!!!"

Well, you probably would, at that price.

Guess all the Mark IIs were spoken for. Will fit nicely in the garage next to one's SUV.

Well, they need something to fight, don't they?

And someone to man it as well?

Actually, given my budget, this might be obtainable. However, I have nowhere to put this monstrosity (unless I actually used it as a bathtub)!

Adama bloodstains not included.

Good for scaring away belligerent XOs and whiny adult children.

---

COSTUME WORLD

Costumes are also within my price range, but somewhat less desirable. Still, there are tons of great items here.

For my man crushes on the show (seriously, who doesn't love Saul Tigh?). One question: Where's the frakking eyepatch???????????

There are, by far, the funniest costumes!

Holy Gods, check out the prices on these ones! I shudder to think of the fate of Head Six's dress, when some fat, lonely fanboy gets a hold of it.

Note that for RAZOR, the costume homages to the Original Series are unmistakable.

Other neat character-centric costumes.

Generic outfits for the following military costumes (l-r. -- Deckhand, Dress Greys, Duty Blues, Green BDU, and Raptor/Viper pilots) are also available. Tempting, very tempting.

OTHER COOLNESS

Here are other cool items of interest.

Eww. If sheets could talk...

Most of the other named pilots namplates are available.

Hallucinations for free.

Something tells me this would be an awesome Risk piece. The other ship models from the War Table (and the table itself) are all available as well.

These look off the shelf too.

Kaboom!!!!!

"Butterfingers!"

For your favorite crusty, cancer-loving physician!

These would make AWESOME home theater chairs!!!!

Maybe not so much these.

That's pretty nifty.

Whew. If you made it this far, you must be a real Galactica fan! So say we all!

Doc Cottle's outfit doesn't come with smokes? What a ripoff.

I want the Tigh drinking set.

I was watching SCAR last night (I seem to recall that was the first ep I showed you) and Kara was using the "tigh drinking bottle" the whole episode long. Must be the go-to prop for the ships varied boozers.
